UFO by Andy Lane6/12/2023 The packages would then be met by a group of men on ATVs, taking whatever the contents of the packages were with them to the house.Īccording to property records, it was built in 1974, a time when architects were inspired by the space-age future such as the saucer-shaped Futuro homes and the cost-effective, quickly constructed Xanadu and Gainesville Foam Dome Home. Other locals have said that low-flying aircraft were a common sight there often dropping large payloads into the neighboring fields. The idea was to hide the cocaine in the cages of the animals and sell them at extremely high prices, so if customs came looking, they wouldn’t think twice seeing a Siberian tiger being sold for $200,000. It was thought that the exotic animals were being sold in order to sell cocaine. Tabrague had a go-kart and ATV track built behind the house and also owned a large menagerie of exotic animals. Many people who lived in the area at the time claim a drug trafficker by the name of Emilio Tabrague actually built the house. Locals called it the ‘Alien House’, ‘Mushroom House’, or the ‘UFO House’ simply because of the saucer-like shape the building has. Located deep south in the city of Homestead, just a couple of miles from the Everglades entrance, is a rather odd-looking house. A photo of the house before it was painted pink

Ten virtues by gordon b hinckley6/12/2023 The solution lies not within our government, schools, or symbols of popular culture, but rather within ourselves, our families, and our faith. In the tradition of William Bennett'sBook of Virtues,Hinckley has created a classic look at the values that can change our world - and how to stand up for them. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one cannot lose hope. Families are splintering around us, our children are becoming alienated from their great cultural heritage, and our leaders seem increasingly out of touch. Sadly, many today would say ours is a nation in crisis. Read byGeorge GrizzardWith an introduction read byMike WallaceNo nation can be greater than the strength of its individual homes or the virtue of its people. Buried Alive by Franz Hartmann6/12/2023 Certainly, after embalming became standard, people were even less worried about waking in the grave because one could not survive the embalming process. Technological and medical advancements in the mid-20th century brought us machines that could detect even a very faint heartbeat – the surest sign of life – and, by that time, people were no longer as concerned with accidentally being pronounced dead. Today, it’s hard to imagine life before these advances when something as simple as detecting death was not even clear cut. DNA testing, cancer screening, vaccines, bionic limbs… I could go on forever about how the world of medicine has evolved. The medical field advances constantly and surprises us every day with new knowledge of the human body. Taphophobia, or the fear of being buried alive, may, in part, explain his final words. Why did George feel the need to state this on his death bed? These were his last known words, and must have been a thought of importance to Washington. Lincoln giving the gettysburg address6/12/2023 Almost as an afterthought, Wills also sent a letter to Lincoln-just two weeks before the ceremony-requesting “a few appropriate remarks” to consecrate the grounds. Wills invited Edward Everett, one of the most famous orators of the day, to deliver a speech at the cemetery’s dedication. Lee’s defeat and retreat from Gettysburg marked the last Confederate invasion of Northern territory and the beginning of the Southern army’s ultimate decline.Ĭharged by Pennsylvania’s governor, Andrew Curtin, to care for the Gettysburg dead, an attorney named David Wills bought 17 acres of pasture to turn into a cemetery for the more than 7,500 who fell in battle. The battle also proved to be the turning point of the war: General Robert E. Over the course of three days, more than 45,000 men were killed, injured, captured or went missing. The Battle of Gettysburg, fought some four months earlier, was one of the single bloodiest battle of the Civil War. In fewer than 275 words, Lincoln brilliantly and movingly reminded a war-weary public why the Union had to fight, and win, the Civil War. On November 19, 1863, at the dedication of a military cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln delivers one of the most memorable speeches in American history. Bird Box by Josh Malerman6/11/2023 Information about the epidemic is given in this episode. The series of events start with Malorie and her sister moving to a new neighborhood, a new house. She wants to give a better life to her children who haven’t seen the sky, not even for once, because of the ‘thing’ outside. Birdbox is telling us the people going crazy and killing themselves after looking outside and Malorie’s struggle for survival in this situation. Josh Malerman’s Bird Box starts with the step Malorie takes, to start a new life with her children. First part tells the story of Malorie and kids’ river trip, while the second part focus on the period of time between Malorie’s pregnancy and giving birth. As the chapters proceed, transitions between two parts starts to occur. The book "Bird Box" has 43 chapters, consisting of two main parts. It is absolutely one of the must-reads of horror tales. A book that deserves all the acclaim it gets. The book successfully reflects how people and animals are afraid of something that they cannot even see. It has one of the most immersive narrations among the books I read so far. Malorie's first attitudes and her personality getting stronger upon the events are two of the best examples of the change in the book. It has a gripping phraseology and curiosity is one of the greatest effects that keeps us interested. Violets made of thorns6/11/2023 I was going past the cookie-cutter houses when I noticed one that stood out.Īt first, I didn't know why it caught my eye. You know the route, past your Aunt Tilly's house, which is still a hideous pink by the way, cutting through the little park that looks it's best in the winter, when icicles hang beautifully and the snow looks like it has a million diamonds embedded in it. The way you could make me laugh like no one else, the way you could draw a smile from me on my darkest days. Your interesting insights, how you could tell exactly what I was thinking. About your kisses, your hugs, your caresses. But when I saw them, all I could think about was you. I would laugh and smile each time I saw you with a bouquet of them. You got me daffodils, remember? What makes books so great is that you're able to delve into characters' minds. This book didn't disappoint the movie sticks pretty closely to the book. As a result, I've been a big fan of the duo, so it's been wonderful to see them at the end of their movie careers amid a cutthroat film industry. I have been watching Feud: Bette and Joan for a month now, and I'm enthralled! My grandmother introduced me to so many black and white thrillers like The Bad Seed, Dead Ringer, Straightjacket, and my favorite, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane.
